New Citroen -XR Concept

Citroen C-XR Concept

Citroen have released a new SUV concept at the Beijing Motor Show last week. The Citroen brand have paired up with Dongfeng Motors as have Peugeot for a new range of models targeted at the Chinese car market.

The Citroen brand plan to take advantage of the SUV car market in China which is currently being dominated by both the Volkswagen and Audi brands. Citroen are also set to release a new Crossover model under the C4 Cactus.

The new deal with Dongfeng motors is set to push both the Peugeot and the Citroen brands back to the top of markets and into the profit margins. The French manufacturing pair famously felt the pinch of the decline within the European car market as sales continued to fall.

Fiat along with Peugeot and Citroen felt the decline more than others as sales dwindled due to a dependence on home grown sales.

New Citroen C4 Cactus Model

The Citroen C4 Cactus model is set to be the best selling model for the French manufacturer over the next 12 months. The C4 Cactus model will be available in the UK for just £13,000 which is a fraction of the price of the current market leader in the form of Qashqai.

A number of styling cues from the C4 Cactus will be fitted on the C-XR Concept including the chrome grille and the kinks and headlights that dominate the front of the model. The new C-XR concept model is set to be front wheel drive and will feature a number of changes including the choice of tyres.

The new Citroen C-XR model will be fitted with the 1.6 litre turbocharged petrol engine that will have a number of new fuel saving technology fittings including the stop start feature. The French manufacturer has built a new automatic gearbox that also assists in reducing the fuel consumption on other Citroen models.
