New Mitsubishi Outlander

Mitsubishi Outlander Phev

The Japanese manufacturer, Mitsubishi, have built their first hybrid SUV model and have added it to the Outlander range of models in the UK. Mitsubishi are said to have joined the whirlwind that will be the electric car market this year.

The electric car market doubled last year within the UK as a Government grant and scheme helped to lift the likes of the Nissan Leaf to the top of the market. BMW, Mercedes and Audi have all joined the market this year and with Mitsubishi offering a hybrid alternative to the SUV, crossover market leaders Nissan may suffer as a result.

The Qashqai along with the Juke have been the stand out models for the year of 2012 and 2013 and have been amongst the most successful models in the UK. The Nissan brand along with Ford have been the most consistently placed brands within the top ten best selling models in the UK.

The Nissan brand has been the leader in the crossover market and the electric market for over 12 months and the next 12 months will be a difficult time for the manufacturer. Mitsubishi will be hoping to increase their own market share with their latest hybrid offering.

When is the Mitsubishi Outlander on sale?

The Outlander Phev model is not available for sale in the UK until April this year and in Europe the model is priced at somewhere in the region of £35,000. The model has received a number of rave reviews and has been labelled as being a very fine car with a lot of ability.

In terms of performance figures, the Mitsubishi model will reach 0-62mph in just 11 seconds and will be limited to a top speed of 106 mph. The model will emit an official 44g/km of CO2 and the Mitsubishi model will be congestion charge free in the capital city of London.
